We Won a Competition!

We wanted to share some exciting news—we won a competition! Back in December, we competed in an event called “Rush Day” hosted by a local brewery in Fresno called Tioga Sequoia Brewing Company. Every year, they partner with a local coffee roaster to create their Rush Hour breakfast stout. Typically, they hold an in-person tasting and people vote on the beer that is their favorite—and by extension, which coffee roaster wins. Whoever wins gets a year contract to supply the beans for Rush Hour and as well as to do a barrel-aged version the following year. What fun!

This year, with 2020 being what it was, the in-person tasting event was cancelled and Tioga Sequoia instead made beer sampler kits to send home to anyone wanting to participate in the event. It was awesome! Also, due to the logistics of creating tons of cans and tasting packs, the brewery opted to team the roasters up in pairs. We were thus teamed up with Lanna Coffee out of Fresno, and we created a custom blend together for the beer. We competed against 2 other teams (4 other roasters). and we WON! The voting period lasted a couple weeks and the competition was called right after the New Year.

After the craziness of 2020, it felt good to get a win under our belts! If you happened to participate, we were the can with the circle! And here is a pic of the finished can! You can pick them up in Fresno at the Tioga Sequoia Beer Garden or order online at https://tiogasequoia.com
