An Introduction

Why, hello there! Thanks for taking the time to check us out!

We wanted to write a quick blurb introducing ourselves and what we’re about here at Reverent Coffee Company.

FAMILY:

We are a small, family-owned business—in fact, Reverent Coffee Co. is owned by just the two of us (Casey and Alyssa Lucas). We have two lovely kiddos. They are our little helpers and have their own private play area in our roasting shop.

COMMUNITY:

Community is very important to us, and we observe daily the vital role that small businesses play in our little town. Before transitioning to full-time coffee roasting, we owned a coffee shop named the Cool Bean Cafe for 11 years in the small mountain town of Oakhurst outside Yosemite. It was a wonderful experience and we recently sold the shop to some friends of ours! We still see many of our customers for local coffee pick ups and it is awesome!

We see the need for spaces like coffee shops and restaurants to give people room to process their lives and connect with others in meaningful ways. We also see the role the morning coffee cup has, both in home and abroad, in connecting the drinker to a larger community. We believe in cultivating community through supplying cafes and restaurants with our coffee and we believe in creating a community of home coffee lovers. Even if we ship your coffee to you, we want to connect with you. We are real people who would love to geek out on coffee questions, to talk life—whatever!

ETHICS:

We are passionate about coffee and about the people growing coffee. We roast coffee that is sourced from the highest echelons in green coffee quality. This is important because quality of coffee (typically) goes hand in hand with farmers getting paid above average wages. All of the coffee we serve is ethically sourced (meaning farmers get well-above market wages) and is grown to organic standards. Most of our coffee is organic certified at the source; any ones we carry that aren’t certified is likely due to the fact that the certification process is too expensive for some famers. We do not advertise that our coffee is certified organic or grown to organic standards, as we would also have to go through a certification process for our equipment to prove that we roast coffee to organic standards (which we do).

Anywhoo, that’s a bit about us! We’d love to hear from you!

Warm regards,

Casey and Alyssa
