How to Brew A French Press in the woods!
EDIT: Here’s a post I had written earlier in the summer, prior to the big fire in our area and prior to the other big fires in the rest of CA. I hope we can all dream of being back in the woods and brewing coffee together! And, as always, please be fire-safe when brewing outdoors!
How many times have you been camping or hiking and busted out your trusty French Press, only to be disappointed by the outcome? Why did it taste sour or bitter—unlike when you brew at home?
Brewing a gross cup of coffee in the outdoors is ALMOST as bad as having no coffee at all (well, it’s a toss-up as to which is worse, but I’d still lean towards having some caffeine entering my bloodstream). All of this is precisely why we made a video series—to take the guesswork out of brewing, to make coffee great again (outside).
Here’s a video of our French Press recipe in action. We use a 1:11 coffee to water ratio. For example, we use 70 grams of coffee to 770 grams of water. This is a pretty high ratio, but hey, we aren’t playing around here!
Enjoy the video and we will dissect it afterwards!
