How to make an AeroPress
We are writing to share some tried and true recipes from our days as coffee shop owners. Today, we will be focusing on the AeroPress!
For those who don’t know, the AeroPress is a versatile brewing device used to create anything from a regular American style cup of coffee to an espresso (or more accurately, a strong Americano). It is known for its portability and ease of use when traveling, backpacking, etc.
Though there are MANY good methods for an AeroPress, one we particularly like involves using the device to brew a strong Americano.
So, here’s the guide!
For a Strong Americano!
Step 1: Heat filtered water to 206 degrees (right off boil).
Step 2: Invert AeroPress and take cap and filter off. Wet paper filter with hot water over the sink. Preheat AeroPress with hot water as well. Pour out hot water and set aside.
Step 3: With AeroPress still inverted, add 37 grams of coffee and 37 ml of water. Stir and let coffee bloom for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Add water until full. Stir and set aside for one minute.
Step 5: Place AeroPress on cup and press until thoroughly extracted. Add hot water based on taste preferences.
Step 6: Drink and enjoy!
