What's your favorite brew method? (Impossible, I know!)

Ok, this seems like a loaded topic—how can you choose just one brew method? (hint, hint: you don’t have to). But I wanna hear from our people! What do you like?

Here are some reasons I use different brew methods:

Hario v60: I love using this method when I want a balanced, quick cup of coffee. I know that the recipe we use will create a tasty, well-rounded cup. It won't be overly bright, it will have good aroma, and it will be a fairly accurate representation of what the coffee should taste like. I normally like to use this method more for natural processed coffees, or coffees that I’m confident will produce the flavor notes I desire with less steep time.

French Press: I like using the French Press A LOT when traveling—the reason being that it’s easy to use and you don’t NEED a gooseneck kettle (it helps to have one, but hey, you don’t always have one in the back woods or in an airport). The French Press is considered a “full-immersion” style brew method, as the coffee sits and steeps for an allotted period of time (in this case, 4 mins). This, when coupled with a coarse grind, leads to A LOT of flavor and sweetness. I tend to use the French Press more for washed process coffees, as you can really extract some subtle notes from the cup that are more difficult to get with a pour over. But, beware, the French Press does need to be kept in check so as to not produce an overly bitter cup.

Clever: The Clever is like a perfect hybrid between a pour over and French Press. You get the cleanness of filtered coffee mixed with the sweetness of a French Press. The Clever is great for all coffees, and it certainly tastes different enough from a pour over or French Press that you will NEED to try every coffee with it!

Aeropress: I use this method the least, but every time I make an Aeropress, I’m like, “Dang, this is really tasty!” I like to make an Americano-style cup with mine. I use a fine, espresso grind and LOTS of coffee. It comes out pretty fantastic.

Ok, go! Comment below on what you like and why!
